Kiran Rao and Aamir Khan held a premiere of Laapataa Ladies was attended by Salman Khan, Karan Johar, Sunny Deol, Kajo, Aanand L Rai, Vidhu Vinod Chopra, Sharman Joshi, Radhika Apte, Himansh Kohli, Konkona Sensharma, Kabir Khan, Mini Mathur, Ali Fazal, and Sayani Gupta, Mithila Palkar, Babil Khan, Shruti Seth along with many others.
Even though Laapata Ladies stars rank newcomers and have a rural theme, the brand Aamir Khan meant that there was some awareness at least that was created around it. As a result, it saw a reasonably decent release for itself, with at least one central screen reserved for it per multiplex.

According to early estimates, Kiran Rao’s Laapataa Ladies should have collected even Rs 1 crore on the first day. The film had quite a low start at the box office, earning only Rs 65 lakhs. The film had an overall 8.12% Hindi Occupancy on Friday, March 1, 2024.
That said, the film was always meant to be a word-of-mouth affair, so a significant number was ruled out on the first day. The expectation was that it would find itself in the vicinity of 1 crore, which is precisely what happened as it stretched towards the 1.02 crore mark.
Laapata Ladies is an excellent example of a box office scenario where the films, be the big, medium, or small ones. Everything boils down to how audiences are giving it a nod of approval post-release to follow suit.
