Kiran Rao on sending Laapataa Ladies for the Oscars

Kiran Rao

During a recent public event, Kiran Rao was questioned regarding her intention to submit her film Laapataa Ladies for an Oscar. The filmmaker responded to it intriguingly.

After almost 14 years, Kiran, who directed Dhobhi Ghat in 2010, is retaking the helm. She directed it, and Rao, Aamir Khan, and Jyoti Deshpande worked together to produce it. Based on a story by Biplab Goswami, the movie stars Nitanshi Goel, Pratibha Ranta, Sparsh Shrivastav, and Ravi Kishan. With additional dialogue from Divyanidhi Sharma, Sneha Desai wrote the screenplay and dialogue. March 1st, 2024, is the scheduled date of Laapataa Ladies’ theatrical debut.

Kiran Rao is preparing for the premiere of Laapataa Ladies, her eagerly anticipated directorial endeavour. The director recently travelled to Delhi to promote the comedy-drama, which has generated much buzz thanks to its promotional videos. She was questioned at a press conference about whether she intended to submit the movie for an Oscar.

Kiran Rao promoted her film Laapataa Ladies by attending a press conference in Delhi on February 19. It was posed to her if she would submit the movie for an Oscar. She responded that audience reactions give her her “primary recognition.” “The audience’s reaction at the box office is our main source of recognition,” she stated. Our most outstanding achievement would be if the public and viewers valued what we produced.”

She said, “After that, we might submit the movie for an Oscar the next year. If our film is accepted, we will submit it for the coveted Oscars. A particular community is responsible for evaluating and choosing the year’s best films. On March 1, 2024, we will not receive the recognition we so much look forward to, which suggests the film’s release.”
