Tom Cruise signs a deal with Warner Bros to develop franchise movies !

One of Hollywood’s most lucrative actors, Tom Cruise, has reached a deal with Warner Bros Discovery, the company announced on Tuesday. In 2024, they will collaborate to develop and produce theatrical films, both original and franchised. In each of them, Tom Cruise will play the lead role.

Tom Cruise’s film collaboration is a coup for co-chairs of the Warner Bros Motion Picture Group, Michael De Luca and Pam Abdy, and it satisfies CEO David Zaslav’s long-standing wish to collaborate with outstanding talent both in front of and behind the camera.

According to measurement company Comscore, during his five-decade career, Cruise’s films have brought in more than $12 billion worldwide. His 2022 release, Top Gun: Maverick, is expected to bring in close to $1.5 billion. The film also garnered awards and received six nominations at the 95th Academy Awards, including best picture. His most recent film, Mission: Impossible — Dead Reckoning Part One brought in a more earthbound $568 million in worldwide box office proceeds.

According to one source, Cruise is working on the upcoming Mission: Impossible movie for Paramount Pictures as part of a non-exclusive deal with Warner Bros. After Hollywood writers and actors went on strike in 2023, Warner Bros. and the other major studios are trying to recover from a lengthy work stoppage.

The deal is to produce and develop theatrical films with Warner Bros. Discovery. these movies will be a mix of original and franchise fare and will star Cruise.
