Gadar 2 saves Sunny Deol’s Juhu Bungalow
Gadar 2‘s Sunny Deol had a massive bungalow in Juhu that was in danger due to a debt worth 56 crores. Consequently, it was put up for auction by Bank of Baroda. However, after Gadar 2 did exceptionally well at the box office, nearing remuneration worth 375 crores in just 10 days, Sunny Deol was able to keep his property to himself. Fortunately, he was able to pay back the debt and the bank withdrew the auction notice. Other than being an actor, he is also a BJP MP.
This was a ‘near miss’ situation for off-screen Tara Singh. According to the notice published on August 20, BoB has launched recovery proceedings under the Securitisation and Reconstruction of Financial Assets and Enforcement of Security Interest (SARFAESI) Act, 2002, to recover the amount borrowed by Ajay Singh Deol alias Sunny Deol and has now put up the mortgaged property, Sunny Villa on Juhu’s Gandhigram Road, for e-auction on September 25, 2023. But, just today, with the help of the movie’s earnings, he was able to float a sinking ship.
Sunny Deol’s Juhu property is famous for recording and post-production work. Reportedly, Sunny Deol was the borrower of the mortgaged amount while Bobby Deol and Dharmendra were the guarantors, in case of unsuccessful payment of the debt.
Just when the matter was about to slip out of his hands, he took it under control. Gadar 2 saved him from a real-life Gadar. Several times, we see celebrities falling into gigantic debts, sometimes losing their lives or other saving in the name of repercussions. For the world outside cinema, it may look like celebrities are always living a risk-free, comfortable, financially secure life, but it’s not true. Acting is a free-lancing job. One time, you earn in hundred crores and suddenly for the next few years, your career falls down the pit. There’s no guarantee of a fixed income and it can land celebrities in a difficult situation, leaving them with no out but to opt for mortgaging.
Gadar 2 is a Sunny Deol, Ameesha Patel, and Utkarsh Sharma starrer continuation of the first instalment Gadar from 2001. In the sequel, Tara Singh goes to Lahore to bring back his son Charanjeet Singh ‘Jeete’.
