Last year, famous actor Manoj Bajpayee had visited Lalu Prasad Yadav and Tejashwi Yadav in Bihar. Ever since then, the media start presuming it’s because he’s soon to join politics. Mid-may in 2023, he revealed he’d be doing a new project every days. Around that time, his movie Sirf Ek Bandaa Kaafi Hai gained immense momentum on Zee 5 and the success is still on. Originally from Bikar, he was recently in Patna for the promotional event of his movie – a courtroom drama that is receiving the stardom it deserves.
When the question of joining politics arrived, he immediately rejected the very idea of it. “When I visited Bihar last time, I met RJD chief Lalu Prasad and his son and deputy chief minister Tejashwi Yadav. Since then, people started speculating that I will join politics. I am 200 percent sure I won’t do that. Question of joining politics does not arise at all,” he said. He had re-iterated the same fact earlier in a conversation in September stating, “I am actor and will remain an actor only… How does the question of joining politics arise?”
He was also asked to put forth his perspective about Bihar’s new film policy. To be more aware, Bihar’s Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has proposed a film policy exclusively for Bihar, in which the government has decided to make certain location in Bihar more shoot-appropriate, more visually appealing and permit the entertainment industry to film there. Moreover, it’ll become more accessible for regional Bhojpuri movies, something that’s becoming increasingly well-known in the world lately. Bajpayee said, “The state government should immediately introduce the new film policy, which will provide proper exposure to artistes of the state. It will also benefit filmmakers, who want to shoot in Bihar. The glorious past of the state in the field of arts and culture and natural cinematic treasures are enough to attract directors,”
Usually when actors complete a few decades in the industry, joining politics is considered as their ‘retirement plan’. Political interest is a personal choice which isn’t directly proportional to everyone in the industry, just because they’re spotted having a chit-chat with political figures. People like Manoj Bajpayee and Pankaj Tripathi are supremely connected to their roots and share an irreplaceable bond with their hometowns, which could be the reason they’re constantly willing to update themselves about the social affairs of that state.
