Lyricist Sameer Anjaan is raged, calls Ranbir’s ‘Animal’ poster shameful, why?

A big part of a movie’s popularity consists of the amazing lyrics, melody and music composition. When lyricists, music composers, musicians, and vocalists come together, a surreal magic is created – songs. A single project is made up of countless scribbled pen marks, crumbled paper balls, sleepless night, retakes, remixes, editing, autotune, and so much more that we’re unaware of. After that, the least they deserve is to see their names on movie poster. As is, the music industry is not given enough recognition. It’s only in recent times that singers are surfacing, the remaining green room crew is yet to be appreciated.

Ranbir Kapoor’s Animal movie is going to be out on August 11, 2023 which is a gangster drama that explores the turbulent relationships between all the characters that eventually lead to the protagonist becoming an ‘animal’ in nature.

Sameer Anjaan is the ink behind commendable songs like Aapka Kya Hoga (Housefull), Ankhiyon Se Goli Maare (Dulhe Raja), Ab Tumhare Hawale Watan Saathiyo, Dhoom 3, Coolie No 1, Rowdy Rathore, among many others. The entire pre-release teaser of the movie Animal has a Punjabi song but none mention the music team.

Anjaan writes on his Twitter, “I am feeling so bad and shameful, that it has come to this stage. I don’t know who the lyricist of the film’s songs is, but I don’t know why they are not fighting and keeping silent. It has to be done jointly, one person won’t be able to. I remember Nadeem-Shravan (music composers) and me putting it in our agreements when we worked together, that no poster will be released without our name on it. I don’t know why the director and producer don’t think it’s important to mention the composer and lyricist’s name.”

“Animal is such a huge film, even the sound recordist’s name is there on the poster! How can you do this injustice to the music fraternity? Can you imagine? It’s not like there will be no music in the film, because of which they didn’t put the names. I think there is a huge nexus working on this. They know we go to Indian Performing Rights Society. They are knowingly doing all this to ruin the music fraternity’s importance. This is really bad. I am going to call a meeting with all leading composers and writers, and going to tell them to please raise their voice otherwise they will not get their due credit.”

Music has the power to take you from grooving your body to giving you goosebumps, in a matter of a few seconds, which is not achieved overnight. Avid music lovers and people who deeply respect the dedication it takes to create music are on Anjaan’s side.
