Lokesh Kanagaraj discusses his next project with Superstar Rajinikanth, tentatively titled Thalaivar 171 and Kaithi 2, starring Karthi.
Recently, Lokesh featured with Shruti Haasan following the release of their latest song video, Inimel. The music video stars Lokesh and Shruti, with the latter conceptualizing and creating the song and Kamal Haasan writing the lyrics.
The video showcases a couple while attending a movie screening, they see the future of their relationship on the screen. The video starts with their loving relationship but then depicts the challenges they will face in their marriage.

Despite being upset by what they see, the couple decides to stay together. The video ends by showing the happy moments between the couple before the challenges arose, as seen in the movie screening.
In a media event, Lokesh Kanagaraj was questioned for an update on his next film starring Superstar Rajinikanth, tentatively titled Thalaivar 171. The filmmaker indicated that the film’s pre-production will take approximately 4-5 months, with shooting scheduled to begin in June of this year.

When asked about Thalaivar 171, Lokesh indicated that the film will take between one to one-and-a-half years to complete, making it one of his most ambitious undertakings to date.
He also revealed that he would start shooting for Kaithi 2, in which Karthi plays the lead role, a month after completing Thalaivar 171.
He further stated that all official details about Thalaivar 171 will not be revealed until Rajinikanth’s current project with TJ Gnanavel is released.
Lokesh last directed the hit film Leo in 2023, which starred Thalapathy Vijay in the lead role. The film, his second cooperation with the actor, also included him in the director’s cinematic universe known as LCU (Lokesh Cinematic Universe).
Moreover, Lokesh is gearing up for the release short film for the LCU that chronicles the universe’s origins and will serve as a bridge between future productions set in the universe.
