The latest sensational director Lokesh Kanagaraj bagged a stupendous place in the hearts of Kollywood as well as the Tollywood audience, with his masterpieces like Kaithi and Vikram. Vikram has introduced the ‘cinematic universe’ concept to Tamil Cinema and mesmerized the South audience with his gripping storytelling. As the director turns one year old today, let’s know some great facts about his life.
Lokesh was born in Kinathukadavu, Coimbatore, on 14 March 1986. Lokesh attended PSG College of Arts and Science for Fashion Technology. Later, he earned his MBA from Anna University.
Lokesh got a job as a bank employee after finishing his MBA and worked for a private company in Tiruppur for four years. However, his passion towards movies made him leave the corporate sector.
After directing almost three award-winning short films, Lokesh Kanagaraj made his directing debut on the silver screen with the film ‘Maanagaram’ which got along nicely in the cinema world. The film was a commercial success and was critically acclaimed. Even superstars like Rajinikanth and Kamal Hassan praised the film.
Maanagaram hit grabbed the attention of actor Karthi also who then worked with him in ‘Kaithi.’ The action thriller film, which was released in 2019, received positive reviews from critics and audiences alike.
Coming to his love life, Lokesh married Aishwarya Lokesh on 8 January 2012, after being engaged for nearly a year; the couple has two children, daughter Adhvika Lokesh and son Aarudhra Lokesh.
Lokesh is currently directing the upcoming film of Vijay Thalapathy titled Leo.
