Mrunal Joins Whisper’s ‘Keep Girls in School’ Initiative

Whisper®, India’s leading feminine care brand, has partnered with UNESCO to champion the cause of menstrual hygiene and education under its flagship program, #KeepGirlsInSchool. This initiative aims to ensure that girls don’t miss out on a promising future due to a lack of period education and protection.Mrunal Joins Whisper’s ‘Keep Girls in School’ Initiative.

The Unfulfilled Dreams

Did you know that 71% of adolescent girls in India remain unaware of menstruation until they experience their first period? This lack of awareness affects their confidence and self-esteem, leading to a staggering 2.3 crore adolescent girls dropping out of school every year at the onset of puberty. These unfulfilled dreams represent a significant loss for our society.

Mrunal Joins Whisper’s ‘Keep Girls in School’ Initiative:

Whisper® and UNESCO have joined forces to address this critical issue. Their collaboration involves developing and integrating a puberty and period education module into school curricula. The #KeepGirlsInSchool project aims to empower young girls with knowledge about menstrual hygiene management by training school teachers and engaging with national and state education authorities.

Mrunal Thakur shared her views on being part of such a great initiation. She posted few pictures from the event and captioned, ”I’m so proud to be a part of Whisper’s ‘Keep Girls in School’ Initiative. Recently, I met @whisperindia and the @proctergambleindia team and their families, and together we all took a pledge to support Whisper’s efforts towards driving period education among young girls.

Thanks to the P&G Family for such a warm welcome and for a super fun time!”.

The Heartwarming Film

To shed light on the struggles faced by young girls as they reach puberty, Whisper® and UNESCO released a heartwarming film as part of the #KeepGirlsInSchool movement. The film takes viewers on a poignant journey, capturing the playful innocence of a schoolgirl with boundless dreams. However, these dreams often come to a halt due to the lack of period education and protection. The film underscores the importance of empowering girls to achieve their full potential and not allowing periods to hinder their aspirations.

Impact and Collective Efforts

Last year, the #KeepGirlsInSchool movement mobilized support across various touchpoints, impacting over 40 lakh schoolgirls and raising awareness among 2.5 crore people in India. Citizens joined the cause, safeguarding the dreams of young girls. Whisper® pledged to educate another 2.5 crore girls on puberty and menstrual hygiene over the next three years.

Be an Agent of Change

Whisper® and UNESCO believe that when girls receive proper education and support, they can reach their full potential and make a positive difference in the world. The campaign seeks to drive positive change through multi-stakeholder initiatives and influential voices.
