Dev Patel directorial debut Monkey Man is now playing in theaters around the world, but not in India. The celebrity cast attended the premiere in Los Angeles on Thursday.

The long-term couple appeared thrilled as they held hands at the April 3 premiere of Patel’s latest film Monkey Man.

Patel, 33, wore a gray suit to the event, while Cobham-Hervey, 29, chose a brown, floral-print dress with a train and lace embellishments on the sleeves.

According to Elle Australia, the Australian actress and British actor met in June 2016 when she replaced Teresa Palmer in the film Hotel Mumbai, which was shot in Cobham-Hervey’s birthplace of Adelaide, Australia.

The rumoured couple also attended a Toronto Film Festival party together in September 2018, they did not pose for photos together, nor did they appear as a couple at the 2018 Hotel Mumbai premiere.

Jordan Peele produced the film after viewing it on Netflix and deciding to acquire it through his production company, Monkeypaw Productions. He believed that the film deserved a theatrical release rather than being streamed.

Patel described himself as “a reluctant writer and then a sort of reluctant director” on the film after pitching it to past colleague Neill Blomkamp, who advised the actor to direct it himself due to his commitment to the material.

“There were some incredible people that pulled me into this director’s seat, and once I was there, I didn’t look back,” Patel continued, “and I’m so glad I did.” “I was determined to give birth to my dream by any means necessary, thus I cherish it and would do it again if I were so fortunate.

Monkey guy portrays Patel as an unnamed guy who “unleashes a campaign of vengeance against the corrupt leaders who murdered his mother and continue to systemically victimize the poor and powerless,” according to the film’s log line.
