Alia Bhatt is allegedly in talks with Gurinder Chadha, the director of Bend It Like Beckham, for a Disney musical.
According to Mid-Day, Alia Bhatt is in talks with filmmaker Gurinder Chadha about starring in a Disney film based on an Indian princess.
Disney has signed Gurinder, known for Bend It Like Beckham (2002) and Bride and Prejudice (2004), to direct an original musical film inspired by an Indian princess.
As per the source, Alia and Gurinder met in January of this year when the filmmaker traveled to India to attend the wedding of superstar Aamir Khan’s daughter Ira Khan and Nupur Shikhare.
A source told the portal, “The two (Alia and Gurinder) have been in conversations for quite some time. The final casting will happen only after the script is developed, but Alia is among the top casting choices.”
According to the insider, “After playing a singer in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s period drama and an undercover spy in Shiv Rawail’s film, Alia would make an excellent Disney princess.
Leading the high-budget international project will also be a step toward making her presence known in Hollywood following Heart of Stone.
If everything falls into place, she will begin working with Gurinder in the second half of 2025.

Gurinder wrote the Disney musical with screenwriter Paul Mayeda Berges. While there is conjecture that Alia is a strong possibility for the lead part, the rumours grew stronger when Gurinder attended the actor’s Hope Gala in London last month.
Alia, who is quickly becoming a fixture at international events, also posted images and videos from the charity event. She also posed with Gurinder on the red carpet.
