5. White Bird: A Wonder Story is inspired by the novel Wonder and is directed by Marc Forster. The film follows Julian, who struggles to belong ever since he was expelled from his former Nazi school for his treatment of Auggie Pullman. To transform his life, Julian’s grandmother finally reveals to Julian her own story of courage and kindness. The film is, so far, the best-adapted screenplay of the year 2023.
