The actor has played numerous unconventional roles so far, let it be his role from Badhaai Do where he played the role of an advocate cum boyfriend of the protagonist Shardul Thakur’s love interest to his recent performance in Dahaad as Devi Lal Singh a responsible cop. Gulshan never shied away from playing roles that were out of the ordinary, his script choices along with his performance did make a difference for the masses who were going through a phase that could have been equally an out-of-the-ordinary situation for them.

Gulshan played the role of Guru Narayan who is in love with Shardul Thakur, recently during an interview Gulshan suggested,” Respect comes from understanding,- we need a little time, also in a complex country like India with so much socio-economic disparity and variety, sometimes certain ideas need a little bit time, and it may seem like a gradual process in the beginning but it will soon have it’s Quantum Leap moments.”, he further added, ” For me the whole concept when I was much younger was alien, I had no idea that people could also have a sexual attraction to the same sex. It scares you even, when I was like 15 years old it was scary because I didn’t understand it at all, but over a period of time you will get comfortable with it because you learn more about it.” saying so the actor normalizes that at the end of the we are humans and no matter how one identifies themself they are normal just like everyone else.
