Sam Raimi Returns To MCU With Spider Man 4

When Sam Raimi signed on for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, fans hoped for another Spider-Man movie. The multiverse storyline in Doctor Strange hinted at the possibility of characters from Raimi’s Spider-Man movies appearing in the MCU.

Now, there’s buzz that Raimi might direct a new Spider-Man film, but it won’t be Spider-Man 4 with Tobey Maguire. According to reports from World of Reel, Raimi is in talks to direct Tom Holland’s fourth Spider-Man movie.

Jon Watts, who directed Holland’s previous Spider-Man films, won’t return for the next installment due to other commitments. Marvel Studios and Sony have been considering other directors like Justin Lin and Drew Goddard, but no agreements have been reached. While there’s no official offer yet, Raimi could adjust his schedule to fit in a Spider-Man movie alongside his upcoming horror thriller, Send Help.

Raimi has a history of success with superhero films, having directed the original Spider-Man trilogy, which grossed over $2.1 billion combined at the box office. He also directed Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, which was a box office hit, grossing $955.8 million. The latest Spider-Man movie, No Way Home, was a massive success, earning $1.922 billion at the box office. In addition to Raimi, John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein, who worked on Spider-Man: Homecoming, are also being considered to direct the new Spider-Man film.

Raimi is also busy, with horror film Send Help on his dance card. But that also seems like a project that could be pushed aside if he inks a deal to direct Spider-Man. He’s also been rumored to be in the mix to directAvengers: Secret War. Whatever happens, expect an update soon. Tom Holland will return as Peter Parker, of course, but it’s unclear what direction the film will take and who else might join him.
