Sam Raimi Addresses Spider-Man 4 Possibility With Toby Maguire

Sam Raimi is addressing rumors about  Spider-Man 4 movie with Tobey Maguire, saying he hasn’t heard about it yet and isn’t working on it. Raimi mentioned during WonderCon that while he read about the rumors, he’s not currently involved in any project. He praised the current Spider-Man movies and enjoyed seeing Tobey Maguire in Spider-Man: No Way Home.

The fourth Spider-Man movie in the MCU is in development, with Tom Holland returning as Spider-Man. However, details about the film are scarce. The aftermath of Spider-Man: No Way Home suggests that Peter Parker may be dealing with challenges similar to those in Raimi’s Spider-Man 2.

Raimi On Spider-Man 4

Raimi was once developing a “Spider-Man 4” with Tobey Maguire reprising his role as the titular hero. However, the project was scrapped, and the franchise was rebooted with Andrew Garfield as the new Spider-Man.

Despite fans’ hopes for a proper “Spider-Man 4” with Maguire, Raimi clarified that he hasn’t heard anything about it. He mentioned that Marvel and Columbia are successful with the current Spider-Man movies starring Tom Holland.

Raimi expressed his admiration for the new Spider-Man films, particularly “Spider-Man: No Way Home,” which featured Maguire’s return. However, he emphasized that he hasn’t discussed a fourth movie with Maguire, but he’s open to the idea if Marvel or Columbia Pictures are considering it.

While Raimi hasn’t been in talks about a fourth movie, he has a good relationship with Marvel, having recently worked on “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.”

Maguire has also expressed his willingness to return to the Spider-Man role if asked. He stated that he loves the films and would be open to participating in future Spider-Man projects.

Spider-Man Is All That Left For Peter Parker

Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures’ fourth Spider-Man movie in the MCU is currently in development. However, very little is known about the upcoming film beyond Tom Holland’s return as the titular web-slinger. That said, the aftermath of 2021’s Spider-Man: No Way Home has likely set up a scenario in which the MCU’s Peter Parker could be dealing with the reverse of what happens in Raimi’s Spider-Man 2.

After the events of No Way Home, Peter Parker seems to have lost much of his personal life, choosing not to reveal his identity to MJ and Ned. He continues his duties as Spider-Man, determined to use his powers responsibly.

In the MCU, being Spider-Man is the only positive aspect of Peter’s life. Despite public perception influenced by characters like J. Jonah Jameson, Peter doesn’t have much going for him as Peter Parker. He lacks a support system and faces challenges both as a hero and in his personal life.
