OTTs are fiercely competing in producing web series with a budget of crores of rupees in a way that does not take anything away from movies. Not to mention Prime, Netflix, and Hot Star are among those presenting lavish web series. It is known that Priyanka Chopra starrer Citadel came to Amazon Prime streaming a few months back. It cost about 250 million dollars. That means literally 2 thousand crores in our currency. It got this craze because of the Russo Brothers’ story the Avengers took. Prime has high hopes for this.
Unfortunately, Citadel did not live up to expectations. Mixed reviews and bad talk did not give the desired result. It is said that the prime presenters are suffering because of this film as it got crores of loss. It was remade for the Indian version by directors Raj and DK with Varun Dhawan and Samantha. The shooting was completed recently. The main story is the same but some key changes are being made to suit our audience. Being the creators of Family Man, expectations are not uncommon. But as the original version was a flop, there is not much hype for Samantha’s as well.
It is reported that Amazon Prime has taken this development very seriously and has decided to stop renewing web series that have given similar results. Not only that, it is heard that a program has also been put in place to fire employees who played a key role in content selection. In the time of Corona, the Indian movies that were bought without watching them before and after, bagged disaster and lost crores of money and gave a big shock, after which they stopped buying them in a hurry. But now again Prime made a mistake with Citadel.
