Alisah and Renee Sen about wanting a father
Miss Universe Sushmita Sen was asked recently if her daughters feel incomplete or miss having a father figure in their lives, to which she proudly revealed, “They don’t miss having a father figure because they have never had a father. You only miss what you have. And now, when I suggest to them that I should get married, they will be like, ‘What? For what? I don’t want a father’. But I may want a husband, it may have nothing to do with you! They don’t miss a father. They have Tata, my father and their grandfather. He is everything for them. Anytime they need to have a father figure and a great example, he is the man.”
Sushmita Sen adopted Renee Sen when she was barely 24 years old, which is an inspiration to many. In 2010, she welcome Alisah Sen as her second daughter. Their trio is truly the apple of everyone’s eyes. In the era where divorces and second marriages were tabooed, Sushmita Sen went ahead and made a change by becoming a single parent of 2 while remaining unmarried. But, when we look closer, we realise it wasn’t to create awareness. She says becoming a mother saved her life. “The wisest decision I made at the age of 24 was to become a mother. It stabilized my life. People think it was a great act of charity and wonderful action but it was self-preservation. It was me protecting myself.”
Sushmita Sen has dated a few times in her lifetime but hasn’t married, to which she has no regrets. She’s happily single raising her daughters and going forward with her never-ending career and success. A while ago, she underwent a cardiac arrest and is prioritizing her health for now.
Other than being an inspiration in her personal life, she’s also an idol on-screen. With her latest web series ‘Taali‘, she’s promoting awareness about the transgender community and the audience is loving it so far. Additionally, she’s also to launch Aarya 3 on Disney+ Hotstar.
