Shruti Haasan quits International romantic comedy film Chennai Story

Shruti Haasan in a surprising turn of events has opted out of the upcoming International film, ‘Chennai Story.

Chennai Story, an India-UK collaboration, is struggling to find a female protagonist.
Shruti Haasan, who was just cast in this highly anticipated romantic comedy, has already left the film.

This announcement follows actor Samantha Ruth Prabhu’s decision to depart the same film.
The film, directed by Philip John and co-starring Viveik Kalra, had barely begun its first schedule with Haasan when she unexpectedly left.

According to recent reports, Shruti  has opted to drop out of the project helmed by English filmmaker Philip John.

The film Chennai Story is an adaptation of Timeri N Murari’s 2004 novel The Arrangements of Love.

Philip John directorial film depicts the life of Anu, a Tamil bisexual investigator who seeks to assist a Welsh-Tamil man in discovering his father.

Film’s director himself had declared a few years ago that Samantha will play the lead in the picture. However, not long ago, Shruti replaced the Kushi actress, and she also parted ways from the production.

his project would have also marked Haasan’s second English movie after the 2023 film The Eye alongside Mark Rowley.

Although the makers have not yet announced a replacement for Haasan, it will be intriguing to see whom they will choose to cast now that two of the most successful leading ladies in Tamil cinema have decided to depart from the project.

Chennai Story is a romantic comedy inspired by Timeri N Murari’s 2004 novel The Arrangements of Love.

The plot apparently centered around Anu, a Tamil bisexual investigator, who helps a Welsh-Tamil guy identify his father.

The filmmaker initially chose Prabhu for the lead role despite the fact that he was on a year-long health sabbatical.
