SC denies the request of stopping the release of ‘The Kerala Story’

‘The Kerala Story’ movie has been a hot topic since the release of its trailer. The movie being a true and controversial story is facing many hurdles since it’s been announced. The film is directed by Sudipto Sen and Adah Sharma is playing the lead role. It has raised disputes and even Kerala’s CM has expressed his disappointment regarding this film.

The story is about thousands of girls from Kerala being converted to Islam for recruitment to the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS). Adah plays the role of one of these girls who has been forced to convert and join ISIS. Many appreciated the guts of the directors for making a film on this kind of issue. But mostly it’s been receiving hate.

Recently, there has been a plea in the Supreme Court that the movie should be stopped from getting released as it has the ‘worst kind of hate speech’ and ‘audio-visual propaganda’ and whatever is being shown is not real and just propaganda. But SC has denied the request. The bench said, ‘This is not a ground. Otherwise, everyone will start coming to the Supreme Court’.

Also, the movie has already been certified. The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) gave it an ‘A’ certificate. According to reports, it even deleted 10 scenes from the film. The movie is all set for theatrical release on 5th May.
