The highly anticipated Malayalam film L2: Empuraan, the sequel to the blockbuster Lucifer, generates significant buzz as it gears up for a 2025 release. The movie marks the third collaboration of actor-filmmaker Prithviraj Sukumaran and superstar Mohanlal.
As reported earlier, the director and team wrapped up the second schedule of the much-awaited project in the UK and US a few weeks back. The L2 Empuraan team is now busy with the third scheduled filming of the project in San Francisco, USA.

Prithviraj Sukumaran has started shooting work on L2 Empuraan at the Silvercup Studios. This studio is in San Francisco. The Aadujeevitham actor dropped two location stills with interesting captions on his Instagram stories.
The L2 Empuraan director’s new post has left cine-goers eagerly waiting for the second instalment in the Lucifer franchise; Prithviraj Sukumaran first shared the picture of a bridge in his story. However, the director’s caption for the next picture caught our eye. “Am I the only one getting GOTHAM vibes? (a bat emoji)” followed by the picture of the Silvercup Studios’ well-lit, red-coloured name board.
Is the picture hinting at the story of L2 Empuraan?
According to fans and cine-goers who closely follow the updates on l2, Empuraan now believes that Prithviraj Sukumaran was dropping hints on the plot of the Mohanlal-starrer with his post.
The others think that the multi-faceted talent was just sharing his thoughts with his followers. We will have to wait longer to see what Prithviraj is cooking.

The talented actor is expected to have a longer screen time in the upcoming Prithviraj Sukumaran directorial than the first instalment, released in 2019.

The project, jointly produced by Antony Perumbavoor’s Aashirvad Cinemas and Lyca Productions, is expected to hit the big screens by the first quarter of 2025.
