The highly anticipated Malayalam film L2: Empuraan, the sequel to the blockbuster Lucifer, generates significant buzz as it gears up for a 2025 release. Directed by the acclaimed actor Prithviraj Sukumaran, the film brings back superstar Mohanlal in the lead role.
L2 Empuraan, the highly anticipated second installment in the Lucifer franchise, started rolling in October 2023. As reported earlier, the director and team wrapped up the second schedule of the much-awaited project in the UK a few weeks back.
Mohanlal and Prithviraj Sukumaran are now set to resume the new schedule of the highly anticipated project in the USA soon. The first-look poster of the film, featuring Mohanlal wielding a machine gun while gazing toward a fighter plane, has already gone viral, setting the stage for heightened expectations surrounding the project.
Tovino Thomas joins Mohanlal and Prithviraj’s L2 Empuraan
Tovino Thomas, the popular actor, is set to reprise his much-loved character, Jathin Ramdas from Lucifer, in the film’s upcoming sequel, L2 Empuraan. A recent location still of Tovino, with the crew members of L2 Empuraan, was recently dropped online and is now winning the internet.
In the new click, which is shared by a team member on social media, the versatile actor is seen sporting his signature Jathin Ramdas get-up, a clean-shaven look, and a long-back winter jacket. After a long wait, the talented actor has joined the Mohanlal starrer, actor-filmmaker Prithviraj Sukumaran helms.
Role of Tovino Thomas in L2 Empuraan
Tovino Thomas’s character, Jathin Ramdas, will return in L2 Empuraan. The talented actor is expected to have a longer screen time in the upcoming Prithviraj Sukumaran directorial than the first installment, released in 2019.
More details on Tovino’s role in the second part of the franchise are expected to be revealed very soon by the makers in an official announcement with a new poster featuring the actor.
L2 Empuraan Cast and Release Date
Along with Mohanlal, Prithviraj Sukumaran, and Tovino Thomas, other prominent cast members of Lucifer, including Manju Warrier, Sai Kumar, Baiju Santhosh, Shivaji Guruvayoor, Saniya Iyappan, and others, are expected to reprise their respective roles in L2 Empuraan. The makers have also roped in many famous stars of the South, Bollywood, and foreign film industries to play critical roles in the film.
The project, which is jointly produced by Antony Perumbavoor’s Aashirvad Cinemas and Lyca Productions, is expected to hit the big screens by the first quarter of 2025.
