Prabhas Kalki 2898 AD is all set for worldwide release on May 9, 2024. But news has come out that the film has postponed due to elections in Andhra Pradesh.

According to a source, the film, which was slated to hit theaters on May 9, will now be released on a different date.

The creators will shortly issue a formal statement addressing the change in release date.

The sci-fi film is directed by Nag Ashwin, who has previously directed Yevade Subramanyam and Mahanati.

The film also features renowned performers Amitabh Bachchan and Kamal Haasan.

Nag Ashwin recently discussed Kalki 2898 AD at an event at IIT Bombay. The director stated, “In India, there aren’t many sci-fi films. We’ve created a few time travel flicks. This one differs in that it exists in its own planet.

Furthermore, it is novel on a global scale since we have never seen India in a futuristic or dystopian scenario. We can now observe our cities, rather not just London and New York, being born, he said.

He continued, “This film took place on the borderline between before and after Midjourney and before and after Chat GPT. We did a lot of work for the first two years, and then we realized that this text-to-image and image-to-text generator made a lot of work easier.”

Kalki 2898 AD is not the only film whose release date on May 9 is questionable owing to election disputes. Vishwak Sen’s Gangs of Godavari has also been postponed.

Kalki 2898 AD became the first Indian film to be presented at San Diego Comic-Con’s prestigious “Hall-H” on 20 July 2023, where the makers unveiled the official title & glimpse of the highly anticipated film.

The film stars Prabhas in the lead role alongside Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan, Deepika Padukone, Disha Patani,Anna Ben  and others in prominent roles.
