Iconic director Mani Ratnam directed the film and it was his dream project.
The film is an official adaptation of the epic novel of the same name and has registered some huge records & numbers. Interestingly, the film went on to register a new feat!
Though the film premiered on OTT Amazon Prime, the film was still running in theaters and had the last leg of run last week. The movie has bagged phenomenal numbers and joined ₹200 CR club domestically & ₹400 CR club globally very recently and the closing numbers are not short of it.
According to the reporters, the film has ₹327 CR in India and ₹169 CR ($20.70 Million) overseas. Globally, the film registered ₹496 CR gross at the box office. This comes as a big surprise to everyone as the film received a mixed response in various languages upon its release. The film achieved the rare feat of becoming the second highest-grossing film ever from the Tamil Film Industry, while the first one is Rajinikanth ‘2.0’ which grossed ₹508 CR in India & ₹665 CR worldwide.
