Matt Damon may have settled the Barbie vs Oppenheimer debate

The Internet has been abuzz with the debate of Barbie vs Oppenheimer. Both highly anticipated movies, Barbie and Oppenheimer are set to be released on the same day, i.e., July 21st. Barbie is being produced by Warner Bros. and Oppenheimer by Universal Studios. Netizens sparked the debate of whether to watch Barbie or Oppenheimer.

Fueling the drama is also the fact that popular director, Christopher Nolan who helmed Oppenheimer, left Warner Bros. after a two-decade partnership and made the flick with Universal Studios. Speculations about Warner Bros deliberately choosing the same date for the release of their film, Barbie have been rife.

However, Matt Damon, one of the leading stars of Oppenheimer might’ve just settled the debate. When asked about the social media rivalry, the actor stated that it was the first time he was hearing about it and that he hadn’t really paid attention to it.

“People are allowed to go see two movies in a weekend. Oppenheimer is one of them!”, the Good Will Hunting actor added.

Damon stars in “Oppenheimer” as General Leslie Groves, the director of the Manhattan Project who appointed J. Robert Oppenheimer (Cillian Murphy) the task of developing the atomic bomb to end World War II.

Barbie and Oppenheimer are slated to hit the theatres on 21st July 2023.
