Bollywood actress Katrina Kaif and Tamil superstar Vijay Sethupathi’s movie Merry Christmas is releasing on December 15th, 2023 – of course, close to Christmas. The movie was recently in the news because Karan Johar had a problem with Sriram Raghvan taking deciding the release date without a ‘phone call’, because his movie Yodha with Sidharth Malhotra is also coming out on the same date. KJo’s post backfired on him. He got trolled and called out for all the times he stepped on other B-grade filmmakers’ movies and stolen their fame by choosing the same or close release date. In turn, more and more people got to know about Merry Christmas and showed a growing interest in this upcoming movie.
Today, Netflix bought rights of Merry Christmas for a whopping 60 crores. This is a decent amount since the film is not a direct to OTT release. Instead, it will first hit screens on December 15, 2023 followed by its OTT release eight weeks later. “While this deal has certainly racked well for Merry Christmas and its makers, the question remains why such an astronomical amount. Besides this OTT deal, trade has also been buzzing for the satellite rights of the project. Though the satellite rights are yet to be sold, apparently the Rs. 60+ cr price fetched by the digital rights, has the industry talking about its satellite rights as well.” adds the report.
The movie, the Hindi version of Merry Christmas co-stars Sanjay Kapoor, Vinay Pathak, Pratima Kannan and Tinnu Anand. The Tamil version has Radhika Sarathkumar, Shanmugaraja, Kevin Jay Babu and Rajesh Williams in the same parts. The movie will also introduce Pari, a child actor. Plus, Ashwini Kalsekar and Radhika Apte in exciting cameos.
Katrina Kaif is making her way back to Bollywood after a big change in her personal life with a handful movies. Vijay Sethupathi, too, will be seen in Jawan beside King Khan in September this year.
