Mehendi artist Veena Nagda has strongly criticized Karan Johar for equating Alia Bhatt’s mehendi in “Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani” with her real wedding mehendi. Veena recently shared a detailed note on her Instagram, asserting that the two mehendi designs were distinct. Although not directly mentioning Karan Johar, she called for careful consideration when making statements and comments.
Mehendi artist Veena Nagda expressed her displeasure towards Karan Johar for comparing Alia Bhatt’s mehendi in “Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani” to her real wedding mehendi. Taking to her Instagram, Veena penned a detailed note asserting that the two mehendi designs were distinct. Although not explicitly naming KJo, she called for caution in making comments.
Veena clarified, “We wanted to clear out the air about Alia Bhatt’s mehendi in the movie Rocky and Rani ki Prem Kahaani. You can clearly see her wrist is empty in the last photo which is after her wedding. For the movie, we did the entire wrist design. We also made changes to the design on her fingers. Few other changes were made to the overall design.” She emphasized that her intention was not to diminish the achievements of the previous designer and reminded that mehendi designs in movies may function differently. Veena concluded, “So we request people to be mindful before they comment. Movies work in a different manner.”
This explanation comes after Karan Johar disclosed during a press conference that the song “Kudmayi” from “Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani” was filmed just four days after Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor’s wedding in April 2022. He revealed that the mehendi shown in the song was Alia’s real shaadi mehendi, albeit darkened for the movie. Released on July 28, “Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani” marks Karan Johar’s directorial return after a seven-year hiatus. Starring Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt in lead roles, the film has already surpassed the 100 crore mark at the Indian box office.
