This movie gave Karan Johar anxitey

After discussing the critical and financial success of his most recent picture, Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, director Karan Johar expressed anxiety at Barbie and Oppenheimer’s popularity in India, where they were released just one week before Rocky Aur Rani. While the two Hollywood blockbusters are dominating the box office in other nations, Rocky Aur Rani has been able to outperform them both in India.

Oppenheimer recently passed the Rs 100 crore barrier in India, and Barbie is now hovering around the Rs 30 crore mark. The romantic comedy-drama has generated more than Rs 109 crore in India and more than Rs 200 crore internationally. In an interview with Variety, Karan stated that he believed competition from Hollywood would be “all too much” given the popularity of South Indian films last year and the development of streaming services. Because both of these films also did quite well in India, he added, “At first I had apprehension and fear, and then there was deep-rooted anxiety.” “So even Gen X, Gen Z kids, the millennials and the boomers, who’ve grown up watching the old Hindi film music, all of them collectively love the film for various and different reasons,” he said.

“Everybody had gotten a little confused about what tonality to do, forgetting that we have our own strengths, and we have to constantly leverage them,” he talked about the downturn that Bollywood went through last year.
. “Take that strength in the writing, put in cinema, and just make good films. And we won’t need to fight with anyone. We will go back to being the individualistic force that we’ve always been. We went through a phase where we were a bit lost. We’re finding our paths out of this jungle.”
