Warner Bros. has released a new poster for Todd Phillips’ upcoming musical psychological thriller Joker 2 (aka Joker: Folie à Deux).
Lady Gaga and Joaquin Phoenix strike a dancing pose
Joaquin Phoenix will reprise his role from the previous film, released in 2019, while pop sensation Lady Gaga will join the cast. The production company has also announced the release date for the highly anticipated trailer.
The new image depicts Joaquin Phoenix’s Arthur Fleck aka Joker in a traditional ballroom dance position with his love interest Harley Quinn, played by Lady Gaga.
The two are dressed officially, in black tuxedos and white dresses, respectively. They are wearing clown makeup and have grave expressions for a change.
DC fans are eagerly awaiting previews of this film! The first Joker film, featuring Phoenix, won the hearts of not only DC fans, but people all across the world. The second film, Folie à Deux, which translates as “mental illness shared by two people,” will double the chaos.
The sequel to the critically acclaimed Joker flick will begin up where it left off. The first installment of the film franchise depicted Arthur Fleck as a miserable “freak” with an ailing mother and a destitute lifestyle. The society’s rejection and branding of him as a freak undermines his morale. Until he decides to embrace it and become “The Joker.”
The film closes with Fleck or Joker murdering Murray Franklin, played by Robert De Niro. The musical sequel will depict the beginning of the Joker’s reign, including his encounter with his troubled lover Harley Quinn, played by the Shallow singer. As their love story progresses, the danger to the people of Gotham City grows!
