The hit film of 1996 ‘Indian’ was directed by Shankar. The cast of the film was Kamal Haasan, Venu, Sukanya, Manisha Koirala, and Urmila. Kamal played a dual role in the film. The storyline of the film is that an honest veteran, having served in the Indian Army, decides to teach corrupt officials a lesson. He targets officials, ministers, and bureaucrats to make them work diligently without accepting bribes.
The movie became the highest-grossing Tamil film of all time and also the first film from Tamil and South India to gross 50 crores at the worldwide box office. The movie was also simultaneously released in Telugu and Hindi languages and got hit in both these industries too.
Now, Shankar is directing the sequel of the Indian, starring Kamal Haasan, Nedumudi Venu, Kajal Aggarwal, Rakul Preet Singh, Priya Bhavani Shankar and Nayanthara. The team has shot in Tirupati, Chennai. Recently, Kamal shared a picture of him on Instagram with the caption “Indian in transit 2 Taiwan!” #indian2. According to sources, the team is off to Taiwan to shoot a massive train action episode.
