It’s important to remember that Waheeda ji was initially supposed to play the lead role in Karan Johar’s classic family drama Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, as the actress celebrates her birthday today. However, she was forced to abandon the endeavor because of unanticipated events.
On the Dharma Productions YouTube channel, Karan Johar explored the deleted scenes from his well-known movie Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham in a special section. In the course of this thought-provoking conversation, the filmmaker related a heartfelt story about his collaboration with Waheeda Rehman on the film.
The renowned actress was greatly admired by Karan, who stated, “It was an immense pleasure to collaborate with her.” Ever since watching the movie Guide, I have been a fan of hers. He underlined the importance of their relationship, pointing out that Waheeda ji had long been a close family friend. After a ten-year break from her previous film, Lamhe, Karan expressed his happiness that she had agreed to join the cast of Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham.
Karan recalled the day he asked her to play Amitabh Bachchan’s mother in the movie, Daadi, emphasizing the noble demeanor he was looking for in the part. Without asking any further questions, Waheeda ji accepted the task with grace. Filming for the production even started, and it included a scene where she appeared in the title tune.
