Young Samrat, star hero Akkineni Naga Chaitanya playing the role of a fisherman in the upcoming film, Tandel, is getting the hype he deserves. Director Chandu Mondeti, who scored a super hit with ‘Kartikeya 2’, is directing Tandel. The movie unit has recently revealed that glimpses of ‘Essence of Tandel’ will be released today.
The Tandel movie is based on true events. In November 2018, 22 fishermen from Srikakulam and Vizianagaram districts went to Gujarat to fish in the sea and were chased away by Pakistani forces. Pakistan imprisoned those fishermen. After that, the Ministry of External Affairs of India held talks with the government of Pakistan to release them. Finally, in January 2020, Pakistan released those fishermen. With this, they reached their native places. Tandel is being made based on this true story. This marks the reunion of Premam actors Naga Chaitanya, Sai Pallavi, and director Chandoo Mondetti.
The Tandel story resembles a lot to Dhanush’s Tamil film Maryan, directed by Bharatbala, which was released 10 years ago. in which he was taken hostage in Sudan by mercenaries. In Tandel, Naga Chaitanya was seen as a prisoner in the Pakistani jail.
