Early numbers show Warner Bros/ DC Studios’ Blue Beetle with $ 9.5 million on its first day and $ 25 million on its second day to total collected to date 34 million, which is a good sign for DC Studios.
Blue Beetle is a superhero film adapted from DC Comics and is the first Latino superhero film with an entire cast and crew of Latino backgrounds. The film is directed by Angel Manuel Soto and stars Cobrs Kai fame Xolo Mariduena as Jaime Reyes / Blue Beetle alongside Adriana Barraza, Damian Alcazar, Elpidia Carrillo, Bruna Marquezine, Raoul Max Trujillo, Susan Sarandon, George Lopez.
The film received positive reviews from both audiences and critics for its representation, and it is expected that more Latina and Hispanic audiences will show up and rapidly increase the collections.
Buzz is also stronger for Blue Beetle than this year’s DC disappointments ”Shazam 2” and ”The Flash”.The superhero entry holds a 70 % disapproval rating from the top critics on the review aggregate website Rotten Tomatoes, with praise highlighting star Xolo Mariduena and the film’s representation of action and Hispanic culture.
After four weekends, box office queen Warner Bros’ Barbie looks finally fall. Universal’s Oppenheimer is also putting up a stronghold despite Blue Beetle snagging a large no of Imax auditoriums, which have been a boon for business for Christopher Nolan’s biopic film.
