Boney Kapoor is back on his track producing a couple of films at a time. Recently he opened up about the mess caused by his upcoming sports drama Maidaan and how unforeseen circumstances are messing up the production.
Ajay Devgn’s much-anticipated film Maidaan was supposed to hit the theatres in June 2023 but later it was postponed. The film which started shooting in 2019 almost three years ago and has almost completed shooting by the end of the year left him scrambling to mitigate potential disasters said Boney Kapoor.
The producer talks about how the pandemic and unpredictable weather caused major delays in completing the film, dealing with crowds of hundreds of people, renting the shoot locations for months even when they’re not used, and especially not receiving a satisfactory amount as insurance from the delays is what making Boney Kapoor unsatisfied with the film.
Boney Kapoor says the film was supposed to release alongside RRR but hasn’t even received a proper trailer by that time and besides Maidaan, Kapoor claims he doesn’t owe a single penny to anyone. Maidaan is making me have sleepless nights and the situation is not in my control added Boney Kapoor.
Troubles only further arose for the film and team after a cyclone struck the 16-acre piece of land they rented to create a natural turf and the cost was multiplied to reconstruct the set again. He claims he doesn’t want to probe anything as he has a team to maintain.
Maidaan starring Ajay Devgn tells the story of the golden period of Indian football. The film is directed by Amit Ravindernath Sharma. Ajay Devgn is currently busy shooting for his upcoming project Singham 3 with Rohit Shetty.
