2018 Sets Record In UK Screen Count In Its Third Week

In recent times Malayalam cinema is also getting worldwide recognition and applause in the new era. Mohanlal’s film Lucifer was the first to reach larger markets where a Malayalam film had not been released before. But now Jude Anthany Joseph’s film 2018 has set a record in the screen count in the foreign market. The film is getting a good response in the UK and Ireland.

The film started screening on May 5 on more than 45 screens in these markets. By the second week, it had increased from 45 to 150 screens. Now entering its third week, the film has charted on more than 210 screens. That is more than four times the release! Its distributor RFT Films informs that this is the first time that the screen count of a Malayalam film has increased in the UK. The film is being marketed in foreign markets including the UK as a must-see Indian film.

Meanwhile, the film has already entered the 100-crore club at the global box office. The film, which is set against the backdrop of the floods in Kerala, is produced by Venu Kunnappilly, CK Padmakumar and Anto Joseph under the banners of Kavya Films and PK Prime Productions. Tovino Thomas, Kunchacko Boban, Asif Ali, Vineeth Srinivasan, Indrans, Lal, Naren, Aparna Balamurali, Tanvi Ram, Sudheesh, Siddique, Ranji Panicker, Aju Varghese, Jibin Gopinath, Dr Ronnie, Shivada and Vineeta Kosi are playing the lead roles in the film.
