Black Knight is a South Korean series written and directed by Cho Ui Seok based on the webtoon of the same name by Lee Yun Kyun. It was released on Netflix on May 12, 2023.
The series is set in 2071 when extreme air pollution has turned the majority of the Korean peninsula into a wasteland after a comet wiped out 99 % of the population and 1 % live in segregated districts based on their social status. They are required to wear respirators and rely on the knights who deliver them. Kim Woo Bin plays a Black Knight who delivers oxygen kits to needy people. Maker received criticism from netizens that the series is similar to the Game of Death and they released a statement denying the allegations.
Ever since the series is in plagiarism controversy it is soaring on the streaming giant Netflix and trending on the internet. The series skyrocketed to first place in the global list of non-English categories in the first three days of its release. It is top 10 in 65 countries including Korea, Thailand, Vietnam, Singapore, Brazil, China, Japan, and Hong Kong.
