Aastha Khanna Bharadwaj is India’s first Intimacy coordinator. An Intimacy coordinator is an individual who is supposed to make intimate and non-intimate scenes comfortable for the actors by not letting them feel the sense of losing their dignity, they also make sure the scenes addressing the LGBTQ community don’t fall into the wrong gaze.
Aastha recently happened to grace a talk show where she talks about how intimacy coordinators make the sets feel safer for the children and LGBTQ community. Aastha guides the viewers on how intimacy coordinators come to help in making the film sets safer when scenes related to a certain community or a person when being filmed, these individuals make sure no one is inappropriately touched or exploited in terms of sexuality or anything of that accord.
During the interview, she suggests that Deepika was a dream to work with. She stated, “She is by far one of the most amazing actors, who have done intimate scenes with while making sure everything is up to protocol, she would be very sure of making sure, she would tell me, you make sure that everyone is out of the room, make sure that it is a close set. There was no apprehension she gave her full faith in Shakun the director of the film. In fact, she was the one who came up with the idea of workshops not just intimacy workshops but also acting workshops to that matter.
