Rohit Roy explains his recent Instagram story, calling the industry’s ongoing nepotism controversy ‘useless’.

Actor Rohit Bose Roy recently posted an Instagram story about the ongoing nepotism debate in Bollywood, calling it ‘useless’ and waste of time.

Talking to us about it, he says, “There is no particular incident that inspired my post,” adding, “It’s simply that every time you hear stories and read something about a few stars who are associated to people in the profession, it’s just a meaningless dispute and a waste of time. There is nothing wrong with nepotism.

“If a businessman’s kid wishes to take over his father’s firm tomorrow, is he not welcome? Will the businessman seek out his neighbor’s son to groom and take over his business? “It’s always easier in any industry,” Roy asks.

The actor claims that the emphasis on nepotism distracts from honoring individuals’ hard work, regardless of their background. “When people argue about nepotism, they are devaluing a boy or girl’s hard work simply because they are the son or daughter of an actor, director, etc. “That is really annoying,” the 55-year-old emphasizes.

Roy further points out that nepotism is not inherently harmful, and he criticizes the ongoing discussion for its lack of resolution. “The nepotism debate is useless because it has no head or tail,” he said. “What are you debating?” These talks are only initiated by disgruntled individuals. Nepotism was never intended to be a pejorative word. Isn’t the discussion pointless if it never leads to a conclusion?”

While conceding the benefits that nepotism may provide, he believes that talent would ultimately win. “Of course, they have an advantage when entering the industry. They know people, and people know them. But it’s always advantageous for both parties. Today, if a producer wants to debut a kid who already has weight, reception, and popularity among the audience, why wouldn’t he do so?”

Roy concludes by arguing that rather than continuing the discussion, efforts should be taken to offer chances for outsiders. “Continue the debate only if you can reach a conclusion or solution.” “Make a platform or something for outsiders, and then open your mouth,” he says.
