With such a wonderful cast and the movie’s early screenings receiving a 93%, who wouldn’t want to be a Barbie or a Ken? Lets take a look at four celebs that turned down the offer of a Barbie cameo:
1. Saoirse Ronan
who worked with Greta on movies like Ladybird and Little Women, revealed that she couldn’t do the movie due to scheduling issues with her movie ” The Outrun” in 2022.“I was supposed to do a cameo because I live in London and they were [filming] there,” she added, “There was a whole character I was going to play — another Barbie. I was gutted I couldn’t do it.”
2. Timothee Chalamet
Who starred in Little Women as well, was apparently supposed to do a cameo along side Saoirse. In an interview, Greta Gerwig said,“Well, it was always going to have to be like a sort of smaller thing because she was actually producing at the time, which I am so proud of her for. And of course, it’s brilliant.
But it was going to be a specialty cameo. I was also going to do a specialty cameo with Timmy. Both of them couldn’t do it and I was so annoyed. But I love them so much. But it felt like doing something without my children. I mean, I’m not their mom, but I sort of feel like their mom.”
3. Gal Gadot
Wonder Woman aka Gal was Margot Robbie’s dream cameo for the movie but apparently “wasn’t available. Margot said,“Gal Gadot is Barbie energy. Because Gal Gadot is so impossibly beautiful, but you don’t hate her for being that beautiful, because she’s so genuinely sincere, and she’s so enthusiastically kind, that it’s almost dorky. It’s like right before being a dork,”
4. Luke Macfarlane
Interestingly, the ‘Bros’ fame auditioned and, in fact, got a small role in the Barbie movie, but unfortunately, also landed Platonic, an Apple TV’s mini series, and couldn’t do both at the same time. “It was one of those brutal things.
Yeah, the timing couldn’t work out for both. I’m not trying to sound boastful. It was a small, little part, but I’ve never been part of some beautiful, big, cool thing like that. It would have been cool to be able to do both.”
