Godzilla X Kong : The New Empire Box Office collections: Enters Billion Dollar Club

The sequel to Godzilla vs. Kong, titled “Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire,” had a strong opening weekend at the box office, according to estimates from Box Office Mojo. In the United States alone, the film made an impressive $80 million during its opening weekend, dominating the box office.

The movie’s earnings in the U.S. were estimated at around $37 million on Friday, $26.6 million on Saturday, and $16.4 million on Easter Sunday. Internationally, “Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire” earned an estimated $114 million from 63 screenings, with China contributing a significant portion with $44 million in opening earnings.

This brings the total global earnings for the movie to an impressive $194 million, contributing to the success of the “Monster-verse” series. The cumulative earnings of all five films in the “Monster-verse” series have now surpassed $2 billion, highlighting the franchise’s popularity and profitability.

Billion Dollar Box Office Collections!

According to Deadline, the film also performed well during preview screenings on Thursday, earning approximately $8 million across 3,400 locations in the U.S. While this figure is slightly lower than the preview earnings of 2014’s Godzilla, which earned $9.3 million, it still marks a strong start for “Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire.”

Following its successful debut, the film has continued to perform well at the box office, with $95 million earned domestically and $210 million worldwide to date. In its second weekend of release, “Godzilla x Kong” is expected to add $32 million to $36 million to its earnings, despite a projected 55% decrease in ticket sales from its opening weekend.

The film is expected to maintain its lead over two new releases, “Monkey Man” and “The First Omen,” which are projected to earn $12 million and $14 million to $15 million respectively.Other holdover films, including “Kung Fu Panda 4,” “Dune: Part Two,” and “Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire,” are also expected to contribute to the box office charts.
