That 70’s show actor Danny Masterson was sentenced to 30 years to life in prison on 7 September for raping two women. Masterson was accused in March 2017 of raping three women in separate incidents between 2001 and 2003 when ‘That 70’s Show’ was still airing and the actor was charged in 2020.
Danny’s co-actors in ‘That 70’s Show’, Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis wrote letters to the judiciary supporting Danny Masterson. After their letters were made public, the couple received a huge backlash for their decision to write in support of the accuser.
Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis posted a video apologizing for any pain or trauma caused by the character letters they wrote to the court. Kutcher responded that Masterson’s family approached the couple after conviction in May asking to write a letter knowing Danny for 25 years.
Kunis continued saying the letters were not written to question the legitimacy of the judicial system or the validity of the jury’s ruling and they support victims. Our heart goes out to every single person who has ever been a victim of sexual assault, sexual abuse, or rape.
Soon after they shared the video apologizing, Hollywood actress Christina Ricci posted an Instagram story indirectly responding to them as the people we know can also be predators and abusers.’ It’s tough to accept but we have to and when talking about supporting kids, women, children, boys, then we must able to take the stance.’
In the wake of Ashton and Mila’s letter controversy, a clip of Kutcher making a vulgar comment about an underage Hilary Duff in 2003 has resurfaced online.
