Venky Atluri is known for his love stories on screen. His debut film Tholi Prema, a deeply emotional story of first love, is one of those films that leave a sweet fragrance even long after you walk out of the cinema hall.
It takes a lot for a first-time director to make a love story, within the quintessential rom-com template followed in mainstream cinema, and yet, succeed in giving audiences the feeling of watching something fresh, something which is not a rehashed product. But Venky did it with his first.
Telugu industry has had several coming-of-age love stories over the years but only few leave a lasting impact like Tholi Prema. It is a film that deals with love and separation in the most mature fashion.
Later, the director has directed many other love stories, but none of them was as awesome as Tholiprema. After a series of love stories, Venky has changed his course as a director and came out of his comfort zone with Dhanush starrer SIR / Vaathi. The film was made as a Telugu Tamil bilingual marking the first film of Dhanush in Telugu. The film showcased the education system and the caste system and addressed the issues. He came out with flying colors making the film a blockbuster in both Telugu and Tamil.
