Siddarth Malhotra’s Yodha Movie Review

Following his portrayal of war hero Vikram Batra in Shershaah, Sidharth returns to Yodha as commando Arun Katyal, demonstrating his action-hero skills. But his inability to emote and express as much as is required doesn’t help the film carry a large portion of the film’s weight. Acting as Arun’s romantic interest is a simple task for Raashii Khanna. As an air hostess entangled in the hostage drama, Disha Patani( Laila) plays a crucial role. Another commando of the special task force, Tanuj Virwani, contributes in his small capacity. Sunny Hinduja plays his part with assurance. Kritika Bharadwaj delivers a formidable performance as the stand-in pilot. In their brief roles, the other supporting characters perform admirably.

The Yodha Story Sequence

As the narrative progresses, we meet Arun Katyal, a proud son committed to continuing his father Ronit Roy’s (special task force) legacy through Yodha. But under mysterious circumstances, he finds himself on a hijacked flight following his failure on a crucial mission. Every piece of information suggests that he is seeking revenge on the system that has robbed him of everything. Is Arun a patriot like his father, or is he a “betrayer”? At 15,000 feet above the earth, a thrilling thriller unfolds with all the action.

Yodha peaked here

The film has many issues regarding the story and screenplay, but it is undeniably very fast-paced and manages to keep you on the edge and take you by surprise on some occasions. The songs are lovely to hear. Apart from Qismat, the two songs that instantly click are Zindagi Tere Naam and Tiranga. The background music is solid. The old Shah Rukh Khan movie references throughout the film can help you do nothing but smile; trust me, there are quite a few.

Drawbacks of the film Yodha

Yodha tries to touch upon many things simultaneously and cannot do justice to them. There are so many subplots and conflicts that it will get on your nerves. The story is so outlandish that it becomes impossible to invest emotionally and logically. The film is full of clichés.

Yodha Review: Is Yodha Worth Watching?

Rating: 2.5/5

Although the movie has a sluggish and uneven beginning, the tension quickly builds once the plane is hijacked. The film, directed by debutants Sagar Ambre and Pushkar Ojha, is an exhilarating ride through the skies despite a predictable plot. The movie has plenty of thrilling scenes and unexpected turns to keep you watching. Furthermore, Sidharth Malhotra deftly handles the highs and lows of a committed soldier caught between duty and suspicion.
