“The Archies,” helmed by Zoya Akhtar debuting Kushi Kapoor, the daughter of late Sridevi Kapoor, Suhana Khan, the daughter of Sharukh Khan, and Aaghastya Nanda, Amitabh Bachchan’s grandson, is a film based on the popular Archie comics set in the 1960s in a small fictional Indian town called Riverdale. It is an Indian rendition of the comics by the same name, revolving around the characters Archie, Betty, Veronica, and Jughead, who attend Riverdale High School.
Though the initial announcement of the film was met with some turmoil due to the cast, the release of the trailer has everyone quite enthralled. The trailer stays true to the comic in its set, costumes, and vintage feel, which has earned the audience’s approval; in fact, fans are going as far as saying that this adaptation seems more accurate than that of the popular American TV show “Riverdale.”. The trailer is lighthearted and upbeat not giving away too much, showing moments of a typical teenage drama with dances, bicycles, parties, protests, fun retro outfits, and most importantly, the gang!
The original comics feature a love triangle between Archie, Betty and Veronica driving many of the comic’s plot lines, but we’ll have to see what turn Zoya Akhtar chooses to take. This trailer has every Archie comic fan feeling nostalgic and hopeful, with everyone singing praises for Zoya Akhtar! Catch this movie only on Netflix soon!
