Mona Singh: I don’t have the patience to…

Actress Mona Singh discusses her decision to stop watching television and discusses the controversy surrounding her most recent programme, Made In Heaven 2.

After her time on the daily serial Kavach..Kaali Shaktiyon Se, actor Mona Singh took the conscious decision to leave television in 2016, and she is glad she did.

My path has been excellent, starting with TV, hosting, theatre, and movies and ending with the OTT medium. This entire new adjustment is lovely to me. The actor, who was most recently seen in the second season of Made In Heaven 2, claims that this is the only way for actors to stay in demand.

When asked why she decided to leave daily operas for OTT, Singh laughs, adding, “The only explanation is that I have been severely spoiled for choices on OTT. When you say yes to a show on OTT, you invest a few months before moving on to the next. However, it doesn’t happen on television, and I no longer have the patience to play the same character for a long time.

The 41-year-old’s career on television began with the legendary character of Jassi in the TV soap Jassi Jaisi Koi Nahin, and once the show ended, she refrained from signing on to another one out of concern that she may end up being typecast. “When Jassi Jaisi Koi Nahin ended, I knew I couldn’t immediately jump into another daily soap because everything would be compared to Jassi,” the actress claims. I actively chose to host and take part in reality programmes and theatre in order to escape this stigma. Just to show people that this is something I can accomplish as well, rather than to perpetuate the stereotype of Jassi. Then, I participated in a few daily soaps, but not many.
