Tamil film Lover, starring Manikandan and Sri Gouri Priya, was released in theatres on February 9. The movie’s Telugu version, True Lover, was released yesterday. It is being received well in both languages. The film’s critical success has secured a streaming partner.
According to reports, Disney+Hotstar has bought the streaming rights to Lover, written and directed by debut director Prabhuram Vyas. An official confirmation on the same, however, is awaited. If the latest reports are anything to go by, True Lover will premiere on Hotstar in the first week of March.
The makers are planning to reveal the news officially in the coming days. Securing a streaming deal is particularly crucial for the commercial success of Lover, given its small budget. As per the current industry trends, all new Tamil movies make their streaming debuts less than 30 days after their initial theatrical release. It’s safe to assume that Lover will also follow suit.
True Lover showcases the intricacies of the modern-day relationships. The film also stars Kanna Ravi, Saravanan, Geetha Kailasam, Harish Kumar, Nikhila Shankar, and Rini in pivotal roles. Nazareth Pasilian, Magesh Raj Pasilian, and Yuvaraj Ganesan produced the film jointly. Sean Roldan composed the tunes.
