Finally Zombie sequel 28 years later Lands at Sony! Christopher Nolan will serve as an executive produce

The most awaited Zombie sequel is finally on board. It is reported the sequel is under pre-production stage at Sony and is scheduled to begin the shoot in 2024, which featured a story by Ex Machina writer/director Alex Garland and a breakout performance by a then-unknown Cillian Murphy. The Hollywood Reporter has learned that 22 years after that 2002 classic, Boyle, Garland, and Murphy will release 28 Years Later, which will be distributed by Sony.

Sony has not only secured this film, which they won following a bidding war with numerous other studios, but also a sequel, which will be written by Garland. Cillian Murphy, who is currently riding high following his Oscar-nominated performance in Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer, will serve as an executive producer. Murphy might even act in the film, although those details are being kept in a top-secret biohazard facility.

Boyle will film 28 Years Later from Garland’s script. Garland will also write Part Two, with the director to be decided later. The fact that all three of the original film’s major producers are returning sparked tremendous interest from streamers and studios, culminating in a final round of bidding between Sony and Warner Bros. One aspect of the deal that was made available was their persistent desire for a theatrical release.
