Zeenat impressed Raj Kapoor for Satyam Shivam Sundaram but how

A recent episode of Koffee With Karan season 8 enchanted viewers with the senior beauties Neetu Kapoor and Zeenat Aman, offering the audience the experience of a nostalgic trip to the Golden Bollywood Era. The veteran divas talked about the 70s, their families, and much more interesting gossip, leaving the audience to watch the talk show.

Zeenat Aman graced the couch and explained how she got her role as Roopa in Satyam Shiva Sundaram opposite Raj Kapoor. It turns out she wasn’t the first choice for the film, but Raj Kapoor kept mentioning it while filming another movie called Vakil Babu with Shashi Kapoor. When she kept hearing, she wanted to try out that role.

She shared, “I didn’t think he would even think of casting me this kind (Roopa) role. Because she is a daughter of a priest. One day, we were shooting at Esel Studios, which is on the road to R.K. (R.K. Studios). After pack-up, I just dressed myself up, in my version of what I thought he (Raj Kapoor) would think of Roopa. With tissue paper stuck on my face. And make-up, and choti (Braid), and ghagra-choli. Then I went to R.K. Studios. He had this man Friday, John, then I said, ‘John, please tell sir that Roopa has come’. So he said, ‘Roopa? Who is Roopa?’. Then he (Raj Kapoor) called me inside his cottage, and I went, then he was really god smacked.”

The actress also shared that Raj Kapoor’s wife gave him gold guineas as a signing amount, but Raj Kapoor said she didn’t need them as she is a huge star, and her passion for films made him sign her out for the film.
