Despite its domestic and overseas success, earning acclaim from audiences and critics, Actor Yami Gautam’s latest film ‘Article 370’ has faced a setback with its ban in the Gulf countries. After ‘Fighter, ‘ Yami Gautam and Priyamani starrer’s political drama film based on Kashmir has been banned in all Gulf countries.

While no reason has been cited for the ban on the film, the population of Pakistani migrants in Gulf countries is one of the reasons speculated for the decision. Earlier, based on the Pulwama attack, Hrithik Roshan starrer ‘Fighter’ was banned in all Gulf countries.

All the Gulf countries, which include Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Qatar, Oman, and Bahrain, will not be able to watch the film. However, no specific reason for the ban has been revealed. There is an apparent discrepancy between Bollywood’s contribution to the Gulf’s entertainment sector and the absence of Indian films in its theatres.

After Hrithik Roshan and Deepika Padukone starrer Fighter, Article 370 becomes the second Bollywood film of 2024 to be banned from the Gulf countries. Released on February 23, the film stars Yami Gautam and Priyamani in the lead roles. The film is based on the emergence of terrorism, politics, and corruption in J&K. Yami essays the role of an intelligence officer who faces tough challenges with Article 370 in place.
