Jailer has become a blockbuster at theatres garnering over 600 crores at the box office worldwide. Headlined by Superstar Rajinikanth, the film has shattered records even with advance bookings and became the fourth highest-grossing film of 2023 after Pathaan, Jawan, and Gadar 2.
Following the Jailer’s success, producer Kalanithi Maran gifted luxury cars worth crores to the actor Rajinikanth, director Nelson, and music director Anirudh Ravichander. Amid these grand celebrations, rumors surfaced that the one who played as antagonist in the film, Vinayakan was only paid 35 lakhs for his role in the film.
Vinayakan dismissing the rumors portrayed as Varman said, “Contrary to the rumors’, I wasn’t paid 35 lakhs for Jailer. I hope the producer isn’t hearing this. I received three times that amount. The 35 lakh rumor was the work of certain mischief-makers back home. In any case, I received much more than that. They gave me exactly what I asked for. I was treated like royalty on the sets and was compensated well.”
Jailer stars Rajinikanth, Ramya Krishna, Vasanth Ravi, Yogi Babu, Tamannah, and Sunil along with others. Produced under Sun Pictures, the film is now streaming on Prime Videos.
