Varun Dhawan, a Bollywood actor is the son of a Bollywood director David Dhawan who used to be the hero of his times. Karan Johar gave Varun a booster into the industry by giving him his debut Student Of The Year alongside Siddharth Malhotra and Alia Bhatt. Soon after, he became known for his rom-com films. Main Tera Hero, Street Dancer 3D, ABCD 2, Badrinath Ki Dulhaniya, and many more. We also have Janhvi Kapoor, another star family kid who is the daughter of the one and only, Sri Devi. She made her mark in Bollywood with Dhadak, the Hindi adaptation of a blockbuster Marathi movie Sairaat. Because the foundation of that movie had already been laid by the original crew, it became simpler for Janhvi to use it as a good medium to promote her first movie. She has been a part of commendable scripts like Gunjan Saxena, Good Luck Jerry, Takht, NTR 30, and Jana Gana Mana among many others.
Sajid Nadiadwala is planning to cast these two actors in his next rom-com movie, Bawaal. The script is a cliché story line where a small-town man who falls in love with the most beautiful girl in town. He wants to marry her one day because marrying her can rise up his social position. Reportedly, Sajid got into conversation with his actors, Varun and Janhvi, and it’s only after having all been on the same page did he take this call. The entire team believes that Bawaal will win over the audience’s love on OTT. The film is a poetry in motion and is expected to reach out to an even wider audience base on digital medium, which might not have been possible with theatrical release. The idea is to go global with Bawaal and Amazon is the perfect partner for that reach.
The film will be released on Amazon Prime somewhere in October but the exact date isn’t confirmed yet. There’s nothing new or creative in the writing part but the Indian audience enjoys the typical old masala movies, so it doesn’t matter. Hopefully, the acting and direction can make up for the poor script.
Varun Dhawan does a phenomenal job at intense scripts, like Badlapur, Kalank, Bhediya, Rannbhoomi, and October meanwhile Janhvi Kapoor is seen doing a better job in films that cover true stories. Let’s hope this jodi does well on-screen in a rom-com setting.
